Planning a Wedding Checklist
Planning a wedding is an exciting event; and with so many things to take care of, even the best of organizers need a little help. This is where a proper wedding checklist comes in. Planning a wedding checklist will help you organize your to-do items, take down notes, and ultimately relax – because everything will be taken care of.
Planning a wedding checklist is not difficult; you just need to make sure you have all the things you need for the wedding listed. It’s a good idea to list them according to the time frame, for e.g. things to do 9 months before the wedding day, things to do 6 months before, and all the way leading up to the day of the wedding. This will help you to systematically and carefully plan that perfect day. Here are the basics that every wedding checklist should include:
- Budget. Work out an appropriate budget so that you know how much you have to spend; including your family contributions and your own.
- Guest List. This is very important since your venue and catering needs will be planned accordingly. Depending on what your budget allows, start with close family and friends and build your list from there.
- Reserve Your Date. Book your venue in advance since this is the most important aspect of your wedding reception. When you have your wedding venue booked, you can continue with the catering and décor arrangements. This is probably one of the most important places to start when planning your wedding checklist.
- Photographer. You can either book a professional photographer or arrange your own; but remember that your photos are the items that you will keep with you forever, so make sure that they will be great.
- Music and DJ. If you book him in advance you will have enough time finalize your playlist and let him know if you prefer a specific style of music for the reception.
- Catering. People always talk about the food at a wedding reception so make sure you arrange for a tasting before finalizing your order. Remember to include any specific requirements, food allergies, etc. that might apply to some of your guests.
- Wedding Invitations. Book a designer that will work wonders with your invite. They usually have a variety of example for you to look at, or you can suggest your own unique style. Many brides choose to design the invitations themselves to save a bit on their budget.
There are many other items that you can add to this list, depending on the size of the wedding you are planning. Remember to include dress fittings, the purchase of the rings, booking of the honeymoon and arranging for a wedding cake.
Planning a wedding checklist can be a lot of fun and it truly is exciting to be part of such a wonderful occasion. With a decent wedding checklist in place, you will be well on your way to planning the wedding of the decade – and one that every guest will remember for years to come.
