Honeymoon Idea: Cruise

carnival ship Honeymoon Idea: CruiseIt’s surprising to see how many couples don’t consider a cruise as their honeymoon vacation. Having been on no less than seven cruises, I’d have to say that it has a number of benefits for honeymooners that cannot be rivaled with traditional vacations. If you’re planning your honeymoon and haven’t a clue where to begin, here’s a list of reasons to consider a cruise:

There’s a Cruise for Every Traveler

There are so many cruising options out there that it’s easy for couples to find the perfect route and cruise line to fit their travel taste. Considering that many of the world’s most desired travel destinations are on the water, it makes sense that cruise ships have capitalized on the easy access to these hot spots.  Beside destination, cruise ships range from intimate (100 to 300 people on board) and quiet to massive sailing cities that accommodate thousands of guests, offer bowling, rock climbing and giant water slides.

Cruises range in price from a few hundred dollars to tens of thousands of dollars, with most falling in the few thousand dollar range for a seven to fourteen day excursion.  Cheap and cheerful cruise lines like Carnival and Royal Caribbean cater to couples on a budget, but still provide the amenities to have an upscale experience with delicious all-inclusive dining, exciting land expeditions and relaxing full-service spas.  More boutique, high end cruise lines like Crystal and Oceania cater to an exclusive clientele with world-class service and onboard luxuries. The food is equivalent to a five star restaurant, personal concierges can field any traveler request, and no whim is too small to be fulfilled. Honeymooners looking for a once-in-a-lifetime luxury experience are guaranteed to get their wish on one of these cruise lines.

Minimal Travel, Maximum Destinations

A cruise is the perfect honeymoon destination because couples only have to unpack and travel once, yet they still get to experience multiple travel destinations. After months (or years!) spent planning a wedding, the honeymoon should be all about getting some much-needed rest and relaxation. But many couples still want to take advantage of the extended time off from work and visit multiple destinations. A cruise gives couples the chance to have their cake and eat it too – all of the rest and relaxation, minimum time spent in airports hauling luggage and running to boarding gates, and maximum locations in the same trip – what could be better?
