The guest list is complete.  The gown fits.  The rings are safely stored, awaiting their big moment.  It’s time to think about favors.  What do you want people to walk away with?  Of course, you want them to take away great memories of your special occasion, but what gift do you want to give each guest? 

When you choose favors, think about their purpose.  This is the little treat your guests will take into their homes to remind them of you.  Do you want an edible gift to enjoy later?  Do you want a practical gift they can use?  Do you want a beautiful gift they can display in their homes?  Perhaps you want something fun that tops off what you hope will be a fun experience for each guest.

Favors often match the theme of the wedding or reception.  A floral theme may have floral boxes full of candy or seed packets.  A beach theme may have a gift of beautiful shells or candle enclosed in a tin with a beach scene printed onto it. 

Favors also can match the venue.  If the wedding takes place at a winery, bottle stoppers are great gifts.  Some choose to give a gift that symbolizes the city or state. 

The most common favor is candy.  It comes in all shapes, sizes, and colors.  It fits perfectly into themed bags, boxes, or tins.   Candy can be prepackaged or a candy bar allows guests to choose their own candy to fill their container.  Candy can also be personalized, such as M&Ms that can have the couple’s names, wedding date, or special slogans printed onto them. 

Other edible ideas include jams and jellies, teas, and mixes.  Mixes range from cocoa for winter weddings to margaritas for summer weddings.  Food pairs very nicely with all seasons, actually.  If you have a spring wedding think about mints or berry jellies.  For fall, candied apples are always a huge hit.  A few companies even offer apple cider mixes in personalized packages.

If food isn’t right for your favors, perhaps you are looking for classic elegance.  There are beautiful salt and pepper shaker sets, stemless wine glasses, and wine bottle stoppers that would be beautiful additions to your guests’ homes.  If you just want something fun, you can now personalize sunscreen and lip balm for summer weddings. 

The possibilities are endless when you are trying to create gifts for you guests.  If nothing else seems to work well for you, you can always make something and give a homemade gift.  The guests will come to support and show love for you.  They will appreciate any gift you decide to give!
